In the world of bariatric medicine, the word Lifestyle is often associated with nutrition and physical movement. Those are absolutely part of what lifestyle means. In addition, a healthy lifestyle includes your mindset, the people you hang out with, and the activities you participate in. Lifestyle is about your whole self… mind, body and spirit. Your overall lifestyle, as it turns out, has a huge impact on chronic disease. You’ve been told how much your weight has negatively affected your health for a long time… Turns out there are other aspects of lifestyle that also play a tremendous role in diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, and inflammatory diseases. You had bariatric surgery so you could lose weight and reduce the likelihood of having those diseases. Now it’s time for you to look at other lifestyle factors that can also help treat or prevent you from having those diseases! It’s all about overall lifestyle!
