Exercise physiologist Julia Karlstad has written two books about exercise specifically for bariatric patients! The titles of her books are Rx Fitness for Weight Loss and Bariatric Fitness for Your New Life. In her first of her monthly videos for BariAftercare, Julia talks about how to exercise to burn more fat after you have bariatric surgery. Julia refers to exercise as the “fountain of youth” and shares great information specific to bariatric patients. After surgery, you want to maintain your muscle tone and lose fat. You accomplish this by using both moderate cardio exercises (walking, swimming, elliptical) and strength training. You also want to improve your range of motion using mobility exercises!
